"Pima Cotton Fabric"

What is Pima cotton fabric? What is so good about it? Just an example of the advantages of pima cotton. Towels made from pima cotton are particularly desirable for their softness and great absorbancy. Cotton tights and socks are great for children who have eczema.

Let's talk about Pima cotton. Cotton is a type of plant grown in the United State's Southwest. It is known for its' superior blends and is extremely durable and absorbant. Pima Cotton is named after the Pima Native Americans who first cultivated the plant in the U.S., But its' origin is Egypt, where the cotton cultivation started first.

Most towels and sheets are made of Egyption cotton. Egyption cotton has a much more extensive weave than other types of cotton.

Since Egyption cotton became so popular and desirable , the U.S. tried to grow a type of it in the Southwest which is a somewhat similar climate to Egypt.

Pima cotton, also named Supima cotton, is patented. While some products may say they contain pima cotton, they do not have to contain all pima cotton. The supima cotton sign on a product guarentees the fabric is made completely from pima cotton.

Pima cotton in clothing is most often used in shirts, T-shirts, underwear for men , women and children.

Mens socks often contain pima cotton, also some elastic to keep the sock from falling.

Pima cotton is durable, because of the thickness in the fabric, but there is also a disadvantage in pima cotton, that it is so thick that the greater absorbancy causes the stain to weave into the coat. That is why lately some retailers who use pima cotton in clothing coat the cloth with anti-stain guard. cotton tights
