The baby shower host will usually be a relative of the mother-to-be or the grandmother, cousins or friends. Many times more than one host will give the shower to defray costs and responsibilities.

Are you, nervous how to throw a baby shower? We created a baby shower checklist of helpful tips, ideas, thing to not forget and the basics on throwing the most memorable baby shower for that special someone in your life!Traditionally a baby shower program should be held 2 months before the mom-to-be's due date. So you, baby shower host, start planning 3 months before the due date to be ready on time .

4 weeks before the shower

  • Send out invitations
  • Keep a record of all names and addresses of invited guests to give to the mom-to-be, she should be able to send them thank you cards.
  • Decide on a theme, and order party favors and decorations that go well with the theme.
  • If games will be played then decide on what games and what prizes will be given to game winners. Purchase prizes for winners.
  • Thank you favors is very popular now. It is an item you give each guest "thanking" them for coming to the event.
  • Table centerpieces should be something unusual and usable for mom-to-be or game winners.

    • 3 Weeks from the baby shower

  • Finalize the menu
  • make sure you have enough tables and chairs. (If you need more-checkout rentals)
  • It is always good to confirm reservations to save money
  • Purchase and wrap your gift

  • order your cakes if needed



    • 1 week before the baby shower

  • Do a good clean up of your house
  • If transportation is needed for mom-to-be than arrange it.
  • Arrange for someone to help mom-to be open the gifts and put each fift aside after it's opened so everyone can watch her opening the next one
  • Write out a timeline that you can follow to keep everything running on schedule
  • Make sure you have enough films or sd cards, and charge your batteries ahead of time.
  • Prepare dishes that can be frozen
    • 2 days before the shower

  • Decorate the party room where the party will be held
  • Call the mom-to-be about any last minute changes
  • Set up tables and chairs, and a gift table
  • Confirm all ordered foods such as fruit platters, or cakes

    • The day of the party before the guests arrive

  • Try to relax enough not to be overwhelmed by the party
  • Purchase gas balloons
  • Pick up all the ordered stuff such as cakes, and platters
  • Finish all the food setup, beverage tables
  • Take care of yourself, be ready on time

    • Right before the Party

  • Greet each guest at the door, show them to the party room
  • Serve them or show them where the refreshments are
  • Introduce guests to one another
  • Intoduce the party schedule, announce when the meal or gift opening begins
  • Make sure the Mother-to-be has a special chair at the head of the table, and serve her so she shouldn't have to walk around
